About the Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your Occupational Therapy career? We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Advanced Practitioner - Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Team at Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
In this role, you’ll provide advanced clinical leadership and support within the inpatient rehabilitation ward, working in partnership with the Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist and the wider Allied Health team.
You’ll lead service improvement initiatives, support complex clinical decision-making, and help shape equitable, high-quality care for patients and their whānau. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your passion for rehabilitation and your capability to influence change in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You’ll join a diverse and dedicated team of acute and subacute Occupational Therapists and rehabilitation clinicians within the Allied Health Therapies team at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.
We’re committed to professional development and offer regular in-service training, mentoring, supervision, and opportunities to grow your clinical, cultural, and leadership skills.
You’ll be supported by the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead and work alongside a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, innovation, and whānau-centred care.

About you
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Current New Zealand Occupational Therapy Registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Advanced clinical skills in inpatient rehabilitation and confidence in leading therapy processes.
- Experience in service improvement and supporting the development of others.
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori – or a commitment to learning and growth in this space.
- Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Mātauranga Māori in healthcare settings.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a drive to deliver equitable outcomes for patients and whānau.
- Desired: Postgraduate qualifications, experience teaching groups, and project management skills.
