About the Role
Hoki ki te Kāinga is an Early Supported Discharge service that provides relationship-centred care to older adults following illness, injury, or surgery. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Allied Health Team Leader to join this dynamic service and help drive high-quality, equitable care for our community.
As a Team Leader, you’ll coach and support a team of 20+ staff, ensuring a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You’ll be responsible for recruitment, workforce development, and the implementation of new projects and service initiatives. This role requires a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a drive to achieve equitable outcomes for Māori and Pasifika. About the Team/Service/ Location
You’ll be part of the engAGE and Hoki ki te Kāinga Allied Health Service, initially based at 303 Karamu Road and Napier Health Centre. The service includes a diverse team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Speech Language Therapists, Clinical Nurse Specialists - Gerontology, Allied Health Assistants, Administrators, and our Fracture Liaison Service.
We’re a team that takes pride in supporting our community and each other. While the work is serious and impactful, we value camaraderie, fun, and a strong team spirit. You’ll be supported by the Manager of engAGE and Hoki ki te Kāinga, and work closely with other leaders across the service.

About you
We’re looking for a ‘can-do’ person with a passion for supporting our most vulnerable to live their best life. You’ll bring:
- A relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification.
- Current NZ registration and Annual Practising Certificate in an Allied Health profession (e.g. OT, PT, SW, SLT, Dietitian).
- Advanced clinical experience in allied health service delivery.
- Experience leading, motivating, and developing others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a full NZ driver’s licence.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice.
- Desired: Project and change management skills, experience teaching groups, and knowledge of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare.
