About the Role

The Child Development Centre is a multi-disciplinary service that provides assessment and intervention for tamariki aged 0 – 16 years with developmental disabilities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to join this team

You will collaborate with clients and the team providing multidisciplinary assessments, acute inpatient assessment and intervention, equipment and housing assessments, and individual assessments and interventions.

About the Team/Service

Allied Health is a department of Te Whatu Ora, Waikato that provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetic, Audiology & New Born Hearing screening, Social Work, and Psychology services. Staff within these professions are all involved in direct client care and work in a wide range of situations to improve the health and wellbeing of the people they work with. Allied Health staff work in partnership with individuals and their family/whanau to facilitate relationships and a smooth journey through the healthcare system.

Child Development Centre is located at Waikato Hospital campus.

About you

Our ideal candidate would suit a clinician with experience in the area of child disability. We would also be looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Registration with the Occupational Therapist Board of New Zealand is desirable.
  • Need an ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Have a pro-active, can-do approach with the ability to be flexible and work autonomously as well as in a team.
  • Driver’s licence is essential
