About the role

We have a permanent position for an exceptional, forward-thinking senior nurse who is flexible, resilient, and able to work across community and clinical settings. This role is suited to a qualified Nurse Practitioner or an experienced nurse working towards NP (eg CNS/NP intern).

This is a high-impact role within the Toi Tu Kids Service, an innovative, community-based model designed to reach children and whānau who face the greatest barriers to accessing care. You will deliver holistic, mokopuna-centric, whānau-focused, whānau-led care in homes, schools, and community settings, working beyond traditional clinic-based models.

In this role you will:

• Provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for mokopuna with wide range of health and developmental needs
• Work in partnership with whānau and communities
• Work collaboratively across health and social services to ensure coordinated, seamless care
• Contribute to improved system performance, including supporting timely access to care and equity outcomes
• Demonstrate clinical leadership as part of the Starship Community Senior Nursing Team and Te Hononga.

About the Team

Starship Community provides interdisciplinary healthcare and cultural support to mokopuna, young people, and their whānau across central Auckland. Our teams deliver care in homes, schools, and community settings, with a strong focus on mokopuna-centric, whānau-focused, whānau-led care and reducing inequities.

This role sits within a longstanding partnership between Starship Community / Te Toka Tumai and Te Hononga o Tāmaki me Hoturoa, a Māori-led NGO with deep community connections. The partnership brings together clinical expertise and cultural leadership, enabling care that is accessible, trusted, and effective.

The Toi Tu Kids Service works closely with whānau with high health and social needs, providing holistic assessment, care coordination, advocacy, and navigation across services. The team includes Nurse Practitioners, Paediatricians, and Whānau Support Workers working together to improve outcomes for tamariki.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

• demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
• have obtained an approved clinical Master’s degree or be near completion
• have a minimum of 5 years of paediatric experience preferably in community services
• have a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and full clean drivers licence
