The Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital provides acute emergency services to around 130,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year and is one of the busiest in Australasia. Middlemore Hospital is situated in a lower socio-economic area and serves a culturally diverse, high need population with high acuity presentations.
About the role:
We are looking to set up a Nurse Practitioner run Fast Track Model in our Kidz First Emergency Department and are on a hunt for a Nurse Practitioner or a Clinical Nurse Specialist working towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner for this exciting new opportunity. We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner who can bring clinical expertise and leadership to our Paediatrics and adult areas while participating and disseminating current research activities and findings to enhance point of care for the patient at risk in the acute ward settings. This role will be based predominately in the Kidz First Emergency Department.
You will be required to initiate and develop innovative approaches to problem solving while utilising skills from other disciplines and team members to co-ordinate and resolve problems. This role functions within an interdisciplinary model that best meets the patient requirements, and is in line with the vision and values of Counties Manukau Health (CMH).
You will be empowered to make decisions or recommendations relating to patient management, while demonstrating a high level of communication and professionalism.
Essential requirements:
- Registered with the NZ Nursing Council with a current APC
- Currently Practicing as a Nurse Practitioner or a Clinical Nurse Specialist working towards a Nurse Practitioner
- A minimum of 4 years recent clinical experience in acute nursing care
- Working towards a clinical Master’s degree
