Nurse Educator - Level 8 ORs

- Permanent - Part time (0.5 FTE) position
- Location – Auckland City Hospital
About the Role
We have an opportunity for an experienced perioperative nurse or technician to further their career focusing on education, training and development within a passionate perioperative educator team.
In this role you will:
- Be responsible for professional development of nursing staff and health care assistants in the perioperative area, including teaching on and supporting those who are new to the scrub/circulating roles in the operating rooms
- Contribute to hospital wide development and leadership of nursing and patient focused initiatives
- Provide support to all perioperative departments. You will be primarily based in Level 8 OR which provides acute and elective general surgery (including colorectal, breast and hepatobiliary), urology, vascular, orthopaedics, neurosurgery (adults and paediatrics), transplantation (kidney, liver and pancreas - adults and paediatrics) and trauma.
This is a permanent role working 0.5 FTE, Monday to Sunday.
This is a part-time role. There may be opportunity to combine this role with a clinical role. We are looking for a registered nurse or anaesthetic technician a with a passion for education, who is already on or completed a post graduate pathway. While the role provides support to surgical and perioperative areas, your focus will be OR scrub/circulating roles.

About You
We are looking for:
- An expert/senior nurse or senior anaesthetic technician with relevant clinical experience
- A Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or Masters in specialty practice.
- Sound knowledge of clinical teaching/learning methods well-developed communication and critical thinking skills.
