The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role within the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), responsible for promoting high standards of care, quality improvement, and clinical leadership across the patient journey. You’ll provide expert professional advice, champion evidence-informed practice, and drive strategic initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and nursing performance. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, cultural safety, and equity, this role is ideal for a senior nurse ready to influence change and shape the future of care at one of our leading units.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The position is primarily based at Auckland City Hospital. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary, professional team committed to delivering quality care to Auckland’s Cardiovascular patients.
Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand is set in a pristine marine-based environment with a temperate climate and has a population of 1.5 million. It is a vibrant mixture of lifestyles and cultures and offers easy access to stunning and diverse scenery and a wonderful range of outdoor pursuits.

About you
To succeed in this role, there are a few key things we’re looking for:
- Current NZ nursing registration and Annual Practising Certificate
- Recognised nursing qualification (RGN, RGON, RPN, RCpN, BN or BHSc)
- 5+ years post-graduate experience in a specialty area
- Strong leadership and communication
- Experience in quality improvement
- Commitment to bicultural practice and achieving equity for Māori
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in health care
