About the Role
As the Midwife Manager, you will provide operational leadership for inpatient and outpatient maternity services, ensuring safe, high - quality, and evidence - based care is delivered across the service. Working closely with the Maternity Leadership Team, you will lead service delivery, workforce planning, budget management, and quality improvement initiatives, while fostering a culture of compassion, professionalism, and continuous learning.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for leading a large and diverse workforce, maintaining strong relationships with Lead Maternity Carers, clinicians, and community partners, and driving service improvements that enhance the experience and outcomes of women, pregnant people, newborns, and their whānau. You will play a key role in supporting equitable access to care, leading change, and ensuring maternity services continue to meet the needs of our growing community.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Maternity Services team provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to wāhine, pēpi, and whānau across Hawke’s Bay. Based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, you will work alongside a dedicated team of midwives, nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and community partners who are committed to delivering safe, whanau - centred, and culturally responsive care.

About you
As an experienced Midwife Manager, you will bring:
- A current New Zealand Midwifery Annual Practising Certificate with experience working across the midwifery scope of practice
- At least 5 years’ experience in the midwifery profession, including leadership experience
- Strong people leadership, workforce management, and service improvement capability
- Excellent relationship - building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and community stakeholders
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equitable health outcomes, and culturally safe maternity care
