About the Role

As a Clinical Midwife Manager, you will provide operational leadership and clinical oversight across our maternity services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, whānau centred care. Working in partnership with the Midwife Manager and wider maternity leadership team, you will support service coordination, manage staffing and rosters, oversee patient flow, and lead initiatives that enhance care quality, workforce development, and service performance.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced midwife who is passionate about supporting both women and whānau, and the teams who care for them. You will play a key role in driving quality improvement, supporting staff development, managing complex operational challenges, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture that enables excellence in maternity care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Maternity Service is dedicated to providing safe, equitable, and high quality care for hapū wāhine, pēpi, and whānau across Hawke's Bay. We work collaboratively with Lead Maternity Carers, specialist services, Māori health providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and culturally responsive care throughout the maternity journey.

About you

As a Clinical Midwife Manager, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• At least five years of recent and relevant clinical midwifery experience.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to support, coach, and develop high performing teams.
• Strong operational, communication, problem solving, and relationship management skills.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, quality improvement, and culturally responsive maternity care.

Desirable:

• A relevant postgraduate qualification, or progress towards one.
• Experience leading teams within the health sector.
• Knowledge of the broader health sector and factors influencing maternity service delivery.
