About the role

We are looking for a passionate Mental Health Care Assistant to work in Waiatarau which is a purpose built Acute Mental Health inpatient unit.

In this full time position position you will be working with people experiencing acute mental health problems. You will need to be able to easily relate to, and deal with, people who can at times demonstrate difficult or challenging behaviours.

You will be working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About you

  • You will need to be calm under pressure, and demonstrate resilience.
  • You will also be a confident and clear communicator, with good verbal language skills.
  • It is important that you have enthusiasm for working within mental health, and are self-motivated, energetic, and have a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience within a mental health setting would be advantageous.
