We are looking for a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Histology team at LabPlus

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This role is based primarily in the Histopathology Team and covers all aspects of the routine Histology laboratory, especially microtomy, including specimen receipt and registration, assisting in cut up, frozen sections, embedding, microtomy, special stains.

It is extremely important for the successful candidate to have meticulous attention to detail, following instructions and procedures, analytical skills, time management, excellent written and oral communication. It is also important to have good people skills as we work together as a close team that encourages open conversation. Anatomical Pathology as a discipline has real potential for advancement and we are committed to training with an emphasis on quality.

LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. LabPLUS are part of the state-owned Auckland District Health Board. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. The Anatomical Pathology Department is a major referral laboratory comprising of Histology, Cytology and Electron Microscopy. We work with other external hospitals from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. This means we report on a broad range of specimens and to service this diversity we have an experienced team with specialist knowledge. We are fortunate to have a large number of Consultant Pathologists with considerable experience. We also have a very proficient Scientific and Technical staff all working together to provide a quality service.

Our methods, training, expertise and knowledge conform to the highest standards expected by our peers and the community at large. We enjoy a close association with the University of Auckland Medical School and participate in external Quality Assurance Programmes initiated by the Royal College of Pathologists (Australia).
