About the Role

The Interpreting Service is based at Manukau Health Park and services the requests of all Counties Manukau District inpatients, outpatients and community interpreting requirements as well as any external client requests from the Police, Ministry of Justice and other agencies predominantly in the South Auckland region.

As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication between healthcare professional and patients.

We currently have part-time and casual opportunities available for:

  • Tongan Interpreter - Casual 
  • Cook Island Interpreter - Part time working 20 hours a week 
  • Samoan Interpreter - Part time working 16 hours a week 

The ideal candidates will need to be available to work Monday to Friday and during business hours.

About You

The ideal candidates will need to have;

  • Preferred but NOT essential - AUT Certificate in Liaison Interpreting (Health and/or Legal) or have NAATI accreditation at Level 2 or 3
  • Fluency in English and the relevant language listed above
  • Knowledge of the NZ healthcare system and/or medical terminology
  • Provide consecutive interpreting services via face to face, telephone and virtual remote interpreting
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service
