About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, positive, and highly organised HR Coordinator to join our AskHR team on a full-time fixed term basis through to 5 February 2027.

 

As part of our AskHR team, you will play a key role in supporting employees and leaders across the Waikato region. Working in a busy and fast-paced environment, you will coordinate a range of HR processes, respond to enquiries, maintain workforce information, and help ensure our people receive accurate and timely support.

 

This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same. You will support a wide range of HR activities across the employee lifecycle, including, employment changes, contract administration, workforce data management, compliance activities, reporting, and responding to enquiries from employees and leaders.

You will join a friendly, connected AskHR team that works collaboratively, shares knowledge and supports one another. We value open communication, practical teamwork and a consistent approach to customer service.

 

As part of the wider People & Culture whānau, we work closely with our HR Business Partners, Recruitment, Payroll and other operational teams across the organisation. We also make time to connect as a team, including through monthly team lunches where we can strengthen relationships and celebrate our shared achievements.

 

About Hamilton

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. As a major teaching hospital with affiliations to the University of Auckland, University of Waikato, and Wintec, it offers a dynamic learning environment and access to research opportunities. The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities located on the Waiora Waikato Hospital Campus, with both road and air ambulance support.

 

About you

You will bring:

  • Experience in HR, payroll, administration, customer service, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience using HRIS, HRMS, workforce systems, or other enterprise systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage high volume work with accuracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, solution focused mindset.
  • Well developed communication and customer service skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach and commitment to delivering exceptional service.
