Are you passionate about supporting patients and making a difference in women’s health? We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Health Assistant to join our Breast Imaging Service at Manukau Health Park.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting breast screening, diagnostic and assessment services. You will work closely with Radiologists, Medical Imaging Technologists, nurses and other members of the Breast Imaging Service to help ensure patients receive safe, respectful and efficient care.

About the role

As a Health Assistant, you will assist during ultrasound, biopsies and other Breast Clinic activities, while helping to maintain smooth patient and clinic flow. you will also provide practical and administrative support across the Breast Imaging Service.

Your responsibilities will include preparing ultrasound and mammography rooms, assisting with biopsy procedures, supporting patients before and during procedures, chaperoning women for ultrasound examinations, preparing equipment and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention.

You will also support the accurate labelling and handling of biopsy specimens, maintain patient records and documentation, assist with data entry and appointments, answer phone calls and undertake other administrative tasks that support the service.

Maintaining appropriate stock levels will also be an important part of the role, including monitoring supplies, checking expiry dates, maintaining linen and gowns, and ensuring clinical rooms are well stocked and ready for the day’s activities.

Essential:

• Previous Health Care or Health assistant experience with Level 4 Health Care Assistant qualification or equivalent preferable
• Experience working in a community or health care service
• Interest or experience in women’s health

Most importantly, you will be a confident communicator who works well as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will demonstrate sound judgement, personal accountability, professionalism and a commitment to providing a positive and inclusive experience for patients and whaanau.
