About the Role
We are currently looking for applicants to fill the HCA work within maternity. This work will be within the Maternity unit – labour and birthing, postnatal, women’s assessment clinic and antenatal clinic.
Shifts will be Monday to Sunday shifts are morning and afternoons
Our team is focused on providing excellent quality care and we are committed to improving the experience of patients and their whanau.
Maternity is a unique environment, and the HCA role reflects this. Supporting midwives, nursing staff, and whānau is a core part of the position, so we welcome applications from compassionate, hardworking HCAs who will be a positive and collaborative fit for our team.

About the Team/Service/ Location
You will be joining a dedicated team of maternity and obstetric specialists who provide care for women, babies, and their whānau across Taranaki. Our team supports people experiencing a wide range of maternity and obstetric needs — from normal vaginal births and pregnancy assessments to baby loss and acute emergencies. This role works closely with the midwifery team on the ward, offering clinical support and delivering whānau‑centred care.

About you
We are looking for an HCA that is motivated and can work autonomously, has excellent interpersonal skills as well as being able to adapt and be flexible within their work environment. You will need to have amazing team working skills and be willing to help out where the need arises. Being flexible and dynamic is essential.
- Previous HCA experience
- Experience working with women, babies and their whanau
- Strong focus on teamwork
- A passion for improving health outcomes for the women, babies and whanau of Taranaki
