The Role:
Based at Middlemore Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Gynaecology Elective Nurse Coordinator to join our dynamic Women’s Health team. This is a pivotal role ensuring safe, efficient, patient‑centred coordination of elective gynaecology surgery across our services.

As the Gynaecology Elective Nurse Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate and manage elective gynaecology surgical patients, ensuring smooth patient journeys from referral to theatre.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, theatre teams, schedulers, and other Nurse Coordinators to optimise theatre utilisation and minimise cancellations.
- Provide oversight of elective lists, manage patients not yet ready for surgery, and support day‑of‑surgery admission initiatives.
- Participate in weekly theatre scheduling meetings and contribute to service‑wide planning and quality improvement.
- Act as a clinical leader, supporting multidisciplinary colleagues and modelling patient‑ and whaanau‑centred care.
This role sits within a highly collaborative Women’s Health service, working closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, SMOs/RMOs, theatre teams, and community partners.
About You:
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- 5+ years gynaecology and/or surgical nursing experience in NZ (post registration)
- Proficient or Expert level on the PDRP
- Post grad qualification completed or in progress
