Counties Manukau is recruiting Foot Care Assistants – Kaiāwhina to join a national workforce development pilot to assist in Podiatry (foot) care.

This is a paid, full-time, fixed-term opportunity combining employment, practical experience and completion of the nationally recognised New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) – Foot Care Assistant.

About the role

Working under the direction and supervision of registered podiatrists, you will support people living with diabetes, kidney disease and other long-term conditions across Counties outpatient services.

Your work will include:

• Supporting routine and preventive foot care
• Providing culturally appropriate foot-health education
• Supporting patients and whānau to participate in their care
• Identifying concerns and escalating them to a podiatrist
• Contributing to clinical administration and quality improvement
• Working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team

You will not practise independently. All clinical activities will be delegated, supervised and completed within an approved scope of work.

• Is willing to learn, receive feedback and complete study requirements

Knowledge of Pacific communities, cultures or languages, or te reo Māori, would be an advantage.

Essential requirements

• Eligibility to work in New Zealand
• Willingness to study and complete the NZQA Level 4 qualification
• Successful candidate will need to be enrolled and funded to access the Level 4 Foot Care Assistant Qualification
• Good written and verbal communication skills
