About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse or Staff Midwife to join our team at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on a fixed-term, part-time basis (0.8 FTE). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, compassionate care while working alongside a supportive and experienced team. You will provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing or midwifery care to wāhine/women, pēpi/babies, and whānau/families across the service.

About you
You are a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse or Staff Midwife who brings a strong sense of professionalism and a passion for delivering high-quality, culturally responsive care. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to improving health outcomes for all whānau across our region, particularly Māori as tangata whenua.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or Midwifery Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- At least 2 years relevant experience in a maternity setting for registered nurse applicants.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and confidence in providing safe, effective care in either a midwifery or nursing scope.
- A strong commitment to equity, cultural safety, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a willingness to continuously learn and reflect on your own practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with patients, whānau, and colleagues.
- The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, and to adapt quickly in a dynamic and often fast-paced clinical environment.
- A team-oriented mindset, with a flexible and proactive approach to supporting your colleagues and contributing to service improvement.
- A passion for working in a whānau-centred, woman- and baby-friendly environment where collaboration and kindness are key.
