About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Midwife to join our Community Midwifery Team on a permanent, full-time basis. In this rewarding role, you will provide continuity of care across the full scope of midwifery practice, supporting women and their whānau in a community setting throughout the antenatal, labour, birth, and postnatal journey.

You’ll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering safe, equitable, and culturally responsive care that reflects the needs of our diverse community.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Community Midwifery Team is a dynamic and skilled group of health professionals committed to providing accessible maternity services across the Hawke’s Bay region. You’ll be based out of Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and work within urban and rural areas of Hastings and Napier, offering both clinic-based and home-based care.

Our service supports midwives with robust orientation, regular peer support, continuing education, and professional development opportunities. We foster a collaborative environment that promotes autonomy, teamwork, and a strong midwifery voice.

About you

We are looking for a confident and compassionate Registered Midwife who:

  • Holds a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
  • Has a full driver’s licence.
  • Is passionate about working in the community and providing continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Is committed to equitable care and working in partnership with Māori and Pacific whānau.
  • Has previous experience in a community setting (preferred but not essential).
