About the Role
We are seeking an Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) & Maxillofacial Registrar to join our Otolaryngology & Maxillofacial department here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
As a Registrar, you will manage the day-to-day care of inpatients under the supervision of the designated consultant. You will also be involved in assessing and treating patients with acute surgical needs, including those referred for admission on acute days, as well as patients previously cared for by the team who are accepted for re-admission. Although this position is not accredited for formal training, we are dedicated to providing hands-on learning experiences that are on par with or exceed those of accredited roles, ensuring you’re well-prepared for future formal training opportunities.
About the Team/Service/ Location
By joining our team, you’ll work alongside a Maxillofacial Consultant, 5 ENT Consultants, and a dedicated team of 6 clinic specialty nurses, 2 ENT Registrars and 1 House Officer.
Our close-knit team is well equipped and work collaboratively. We provide a mix of Otology, Rhinology and some Head and Neck surgery including a large amount of skin cancer surgery of the head and neck.
Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level public hospital in Hastings, serving a population of over 180,000 people. We offer both acute and elective care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and more. Although we don’t provide cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, we are supported by a strong regional ICU team, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.

About you
- You’re a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3 or above
- While a previous run in ENT is desirable, it is not essential
- You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
