About the Role
The Whangarei Community Team has exciting opportunities for Occupational Therapists to join our service. This role is a community-based role, working collaboratively to support patients through equipment, modification and rehab solutions to maximise their independence, safety and wellbeing at home.

About the Team/Service/Location
The Whangarei Community Occupational Therapy Team work with people with long term, or age-related conditions including dementia, frailty and Neurological Conditions. Our Occupational Therapy team works closely with other community disciplines such as Physiotherapists, Speech-language Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, and Allied Health Assistants.
We also work closely with the wider regional teams that sit in Kaitaia, Bay of Islands and Kaipara.

About you
We are looking for Occupational Therapists who have a wide range of skills and with a strong interest in working in a community setting to assist individuals and families to manage the impact of diagnosis and/or long-term health conditions. An Enable or Accessible accredited assessor would be a strongly desirable.
We require you to bring your holistic skills, enthusiasm and passion to achieve the best outcome for your patients. You will be able to and have a clear understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific Island communities.
- Current registration and holder of an annual practicing certificate
- Current Full New Zealand driver’s license
- Minimum of 2 years post registration experience working with older adults and in a team environment
- Sound clinical skills
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with patient and whānau from all backgrounds
