About the Team/Service

Surgery and Anaesthesia supports the Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Waikato population as well as providing tertiary services for the greater Midland region.

  • Surgery: providing surgical interventions for acute and elective patients.
  • Anaesthesia: providing a tertiary service to the surgical, medical and medical speciality divisions of the hospitals.

 

 

Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Waikato provides health services in the Waikato region to a combined population of over 400,000 people, and tertiary-level services to the midland region, with a population of over 840,000.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Supplies and Procurement Coordinator to join our Surgery and Anaesthesia team and to help drive smarter procurement, better stock management, and stronger supplier relationships.

 

This is a pivotal role ensuring the right products, at the right cost, are always available to support patient care.

 

In this role, you will provide oversight of clinical supplies and procurement activities across Surgery and Anaesthesia, ensuring efficient processes and reliable stock availability. You will work closely with theatre leaders, clinical teams, and key suppliers to improve procurement workflows and reduce waste, delays, and product loss.

 

Key responsibilities and experience

  • A health qualification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in healthcare, ideally in a theatre environment.
  • Proven experience in procurement and budget management.
  • Strong relationship building skills across clinical and non‑clinical teams.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes.
  • High levels of personal responsibility, integrity, and self‑awareness.
