About the Role

This is part-time (up to 56 hours per week), permanent clinical pharmacist position, with the preference to predominately work within the critical care unit.  This role would suit a pharmacist with ideally at least three years of clinical hospital experience.  The role includes participation in ward rounds, medicines reconciliation, discharge counselling, dispensary services, and promoting the safe and quality use of medicines.  You would be expected to provide high-quality, effective clinical pharmacy services with a focus on improving patient outcomes and ensuring optimal medicines utilisation.

This role includes the opportunity to participate in the on-call roster as needed, which includes working weekend shifts compensated at overtime rates.

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective Agreement.

About the Team/Service

Health New Zealand – Taranaki’s Pharmacy Service is a collaborative and supportive department who provide safe and effective medication management across both Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals. We uphold the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services, whilst constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care we deliver.  Our staff work collaboratively in many multi-disciplinary teams across medical, nursing and allied health directorates with a shared focused on ensuring optimal patient-centred care.

Health New Zealand – Taranaki is also fortunate to have its dedicated eMedication management team who work closely alongside our Pharmacy department to lead medication management in the various data and digital platforms across the hospital.   

 

About you

We are looking for a Pharmacist who has the ability to work and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team, has excellent time management skills, is a great communicator in verbal and in written language, and holds high standards of ethical and professional practice. You will be able to contribute to the improvement and development of medicines services to the hospital, and work with our colleagues in a multidisciplinary approach to deliver great patient-centred care.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

·         Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current annual practising certificate from the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand,  under the provisions of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (if you are applying from outside New Zealand, please tell us the registration route that applies, and what stage of that process you are currently at).

·         Previous Critical Care Pharmacist experience and/or extensive hospital pharmacy experience (ideally at least 3 years) and looking to develop skills within Critical Care.

·         Whilst not essential, a post-graduate qualification in a relevant clinical area is highly desirable.
