The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Kidz First Centre for Youth Health to work with young people in the Youth Justice and Care and Protection residences.

At Kidz First Centre for Youth Health we believe that all young people have different strengths. This is a great opportunity to become part of a team which walks alongside young people and provides primary health care as part of a wider wrap around service to young people in the Youth Justice and Care and Protection residences in Counties Manukau.

This position is a senior nursing practice role that is responsible for providing specialist nursing and leadership within the Youth Justice Residences. The position will provide nursing leadership and role model youth development within a nursing framework.

The CNS contributes clinical expertise for the development, maintenance and review of quality activities which include policies, procedures.

As a CNS you will require drive and determination and the ability to work independently in an ever-changing environment.

Your demonstrated teaching ability, leadership skills, passion and commitment are pivotal to this role where communication and motivation are key.

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum 5+ years recent clinical experience in child/youth health, preferably at a senior level
  • Relevant Postgraduate qualification in child/youth health or equivalent, completed or near completion
  • Advanced clinical assessment and trauma-informed practice skills.
  • A strong understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act, youth development, and intersectoral systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, cultural competency, and a passion for equitable health outcomes.
  • Full & Clean NZ Drivers Licence
