About the Role
Are you seeking a senior expert nursing role supporting evidence-based, culturally safe care?
The Clinical Nurse Specialist – Tissue Viability provides clinical expertise and coordination of care for patients in a service. This is done in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team who ensure safe, high quality, culturally safe and evidenced based delivery of care is given within Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Taranaki.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced nursing practice role with specialist knowledge in identification, assessment, care co-ordination and support to patients within the specialty ensuring optimal patient outcomes and reducing health inequities. Patients receive safe, evidence-based, person-centred and culturally safe care.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist may undertake advanced and expanded practices validated through a credentialing process, e.g.: specific specialty techniques, designating prescribing.

About you:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Master’s degree or PG Diploma and working towards master’s qualification completion.
- Up-to-date Nursing Portfolio at Senior level (or has Expert portfolio and commitment to working towards Senior within six months of appointment).
Skills
- Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Experience in problem solving, priority setting and implementing plans
- Effective excellent communication skills with all staff
- Demonstrate strong clinical leadership
Experience
- Leadership and patient/family-centred management skills
- Knowledge of Quality Improvement processes and principles
- Knowledge and understanding of Treaty of Waitangi, and implications in nursing practice.
- Knowledge of nursing professional issues
- Flexible working skills
- Research skills including data analysis and critical appraisal skills.
- Policy and guideline development
- Adult teaching and education skills
