About the Role
This new permanent position is about coordinating Melanoma and Skin Cancer patients to support safe, timely and efficient care delivery. We are also including Bone Marrow Biopsy – a new component to this position, where training will be given to train alongside the Haematology CNS into this exciting new component of patient care. You will need to be able to work collaboratively and foster excellent working relationships to coordinate care with patients and internal and external stakeholders. Ideally, you will have excellent nursing knowledge and expertise specific to Cancer and/or Melanoma and Skin cancer specifically. This position includes coordination of appointments, diagnostics, patient and whanau education and support, plus performing Bone Marrow Biopsies, (once credentialling and training is complete). This list is not exhaustive, and we expect this position to grow to meet the needs of the Taranaki population.

About the Team/Service/ Location
You will join a team of hardworking cancer nurses both CNS and RN’s, Doctors and other MDT staff who provide high quality care to our community of cancer patients. We are part of the Regional Cancer Service based in the Midcentral region; and have an on-site Medical Oncology MOSS and SMO plus we have the visiting Midcentral team every month, which includes Medical Oncology/Haematology and Radiation Oncology specialists. In our new facility we now offer Radiation treatment – complimenting the team approach to treatment.

About you
Ideally you are a fully qualified Cancer CNS, with experience in Melanoma and Skin cancer (and potentially Bone Marrow Biopsy), however, should the right person come along, we would support the candidate to progress.
- Previous cancer nursing experience in the New Zealand medical hospital environment ideal, but minimum 5 years New Zealand hospital medical nursing essential.
- PG Diploma essential – ideally cancer nursing specific – but not essential
- Master’s preferable or working towards
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
