About the Role

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a motivated and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Rheumatology service at Taranaki Base Hospital. This is an advanced practice nursing role and the candidate is responsible for providing specialist education, assessment, care and coordination to the Rheumatology cohort here in Taranaki. You will be working in a small specialist team to facilitate timely and effective patient care. You will maintain and enhance professional standards of nursing and participate as an effective member of the Te Manawa Taki region.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist will work closely with our local Rheumatology consultant and nurse practitioner, as well as locum Rheumatology clinicians from around the country. They will also work closely with our booking team to co-ordinate and deliver efficient and patient centred care. They will hold independent clinics as well as complete inpatient visits and provide staff education.

The Medical Outpatient Department is located at Taranaki Base Hospital and runs from Monday to Friday. Clinics are held by both Clinicians and Clinical Nurse Specialists in various specialities such as Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, and General Medicine.

About you

Appropriate applicants will need the following:

· Registration with The Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate

· Minimum 5 years relevant clinical experience

· Postgraduate qualification, PG Diploma preferred

· Current Expert or Senior Nurse PDRP Portfolio

· Strong work ethic and ability to work independently

· A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development

· Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability

· A strong desire to support those living with chronic conditions from a young age

While not essential, applicants with previous autoimmune disease experience will be highly desired.
