Clinical Nurse Specialist, Pacific– Oncology

About the roles: 

We are looking for:

  • 0.5 FTE Pacific Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Medical Oncology Infusion Service to provide senior nursing leadership grounded in Pacific values, ensuring care that upholds the dignity, identity, and collective wellbeing of patients and their āiga, kāinga, ‘anau, vuvale, kopu tangata, magafaoa. This role strengthens clinical excellence across Counties Manukau District through cultural knowledge with advanced oncology practice to enhance health outcomes. This role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and utilising Pacific Models of Care, the CNS Pacific, Medical Oncology, will guide holistic assessment, diagnostic reasoning, treatment understanding and ongoing monitoring. A core responsibility is the coordination of care that honours Pacific ways of being - supporting patients, their āiga, kāinga, ‘anau, vuvale, kopu tangata, magafaoa, to navigate services locally and regionally, and ensuring their voices, aspirations, and cultural needs shape their patient experience and journey.

This role includes:

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide advanced nursing expertise and mentorship to nursing teams within SACT infusion units.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with Medical and Radiation Oncology specialists and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to deliver integrated, patient-centred care.
  • Acuity Management: Serve as the primary clinical resource for patients, whaanau, and staff when acute presentations occur within SACT units.
  • Strategic Delivery: Contribute to the senior nursing leadership team to enhance regional patient flow and ensure excellence in nurse-led, "closer to home" service delivery

Essential requirements:

  • Registered with the NZ Nursing Council
  • A minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in an oncology setting with knowledge in SACT, the ability to manage complex clinical presentations and adverse reactions and chemotherapy certification.
  • A commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable health outcomes for our community
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to build regional relationships
  • Post graduate qualifications with a commitment to ongoing education
