We are looking for a nurse with oncology experience who is ready to step into a pivotal senior nursing leadership role within New Zealand’s largest regional cancer service. As the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Oncology you will drive clinical excellence by providing expert guidance to clinical teams, patients, and whaanau navigating Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) ensuring seamless patient transitions and high-quality outcomes. This role is at the heart of a nationwide transformation. bringing oncology services out of tertiary centres and closer to communities—enabled by new cancer medicines funding and a nurse-led model of care. The role will initially be based a Manukau Health Park at Counties Manukau with future work including the community setting. In this role you will be part of a region-wide shift and become an integral part of the northern regional service working collaboratively with staff from other hospitals

About the role:
We are looking for two Clinical Nurse Specialists who would like to contribute to the future of health care in the South Auckland area through providing clinical expertise and leadership to the oncology service. You will play a key role in advancing innovative service models while embedding equity-focused and culturally responsive practice across all services.
This role includes:
- Clinical Leadership: Provide advanced nursing expertise and mentorship to nursing teams within SACT infusion units.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with Medical and Radiation Oncology specialists and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to deliver integrated, patient-centred care.
- Acuity Management: Serve as the primary clinical resource for patients, whaanau, and staff when acute presentations occur within SACT units.
- Strategic Delivery: Contribute to the senior nursing leadership team to enhance regional patient flow and ensure excellence in nurse-led, "closer to home" service delivery
Essential requirements:
- Registered with the NZ Nursing Council
- A minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience in an oncology setting with knowledge in SACT, the ability to manage complex clinical presentations and adverse reactions and chemotherapy certification.
- A commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable health outcomes for Maaori
- Strong communication skills with an ability to build regional relationships
- Post graduate qualifications with a commitment to ongoing education.
