About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Acute Pain Service at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Hospital. This permanent part-time role (0.8 FTE) offers the opportunity to lead and support best-practice pain management across surgical and inpatient settings.

As a CNS, you will provide expert clinical care, education, and leadership in acute pain assessment and management. You’ll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and contribute to service development through quality improvement, audit, and research.

You’ll be part of a dynamic and supportive team within Surgical Services, committed to delivering high-quality care and innovation in pain management. The Acute Pain Service plays a vital role in improving recovery and comfort for patients across surgical wards and procedural areas.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A current New Zealand Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
  • Postgraduate qualification in pain management or related field (or working towards)
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in pain management or perioperative care
  • Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice
  • A passion for improving patient outcomes and advancing nursing practice
