About the Role

As Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will provide clinical leadership and shift coordination across Tumanako Inpatient Unit and He Manu Pae Sub-Acute Unit, ensuring the safe, effective and efficient delivery of mental health services. Working closely with nursing, medical, allied health and support teams, you will coordinate patient flow, staffing resources, bed management and daily operational activities while maintaining a strong focus on quality care and patient safety.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse who enjoys leading teams in a dynamic clinical environment. You will support and mentor nursing and Mental Health Auxiliary Worker (MHAW) staff, oversee service coordination, manage complex situations, and champion best practice while ensuring positive outcomes for tangata whai ora, whānau and the wider multidisciplinary team.

About the Team/Service/Location

Tumanako is a 29-bed purpose-build adult acute inpatient mental health unit, while He Manu Pae provides sub-acute inpatient care and rehabilitation support for people experiencing mental health challenges across Te Tai Tokerau. Together, these services deliver comprehensive, recovery-focused care in partnership with tangata whai ora, whānau and the wider multidisciplinary team.

About you

As an experienced mental health nursing leader, you will bring strong clinical expertise, sound judgment and a commitment to delivering equitable, person-centred care.

• New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate
• PDRP at Expert Level
• Minimum of five (5) years’ recent experience working within an acute inpatient mental health setting
• Proven ability to provide clinical leadership, coordinate teams and support staff development
• Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to delivering culturally safe care and improving health outcomes for Māori
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment
