About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Midwife Manager (CMM) to join Ward 98 in a permanent 0.9 FTE position.
Ward 98 is a 23-bed high-risk antenatal and postnatal inpatient ward, providing specialised care to wāhine and pēpi with complex medical needs. We are the national referral centre for maternal and neonatal cardiac medicine, and the tertiary referral centre for the Auckland and Northland regions.
As Clinical Midwife Manager, you will provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership within the ward. You will be a key support person for midwives and nurses managing complex clinical situations, offering guidance, escalation support and expert advice to ensure safe, high-quality, whānau-centred care.
Working closely with the Midwife Manager and multidisciplinary team, you will uphold strong clinical standards, support professional growth and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
We work in partnership with wāhine, whānau and LMCs to deliver compassionate, culturally responsive care, and we are looking for a leader who is clinically confident, approachable and committed to providing high-quality care.
About you
You are an experienced, dynamic and motivated midwife with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for supporting others in practice. You enjoy being present on the clinical floor, sharing knowledge and helping the team navigate complex care.
You will also have the following:
- Significant post registration experience. A preference for post graduate qualification or a commitment to gaining one.
- Knowledge of the New Zealand maternity system
- Advanced clinical skills and confidence managing high-risk antenatal and postnatal care
- Strong clinical leadership capability, with a commitment to high-quality care and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- The ability to provide calm, clear leadership in complex or acute situations
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to teamwork
- A commitment to culturally responsive, whānau-centred care
If you are ready to step into a rewarding clinical leadership role within a supportive and collaborative team, we would love to hear from you.
