About the Role
Ward 61 is an integral part of the General Surgery and Trauma Service. The ward cares for both acute and planned care and cares for patients over a 2-3 day period. Ward 61 is the home ward for patients under the care of both the Acute Surgical Unit and Head, Neck, Breast and Endocrine patients.
The Charge Nurse (CN) is a crucial leadership role in the functioning of the ward environment and wider General Surgical and Trauma service. The CN role manages both registered nurses, health care assistants and ward clerks.
This is an excellent career opportunity for a senior nurse to step up into a senior nursing leadership role.
An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated senior nurse for the role of Charge Nurse for Ward 61.
This is an ideal opportunity to provide clinical and professional nursing leadership, team work promotion, coaching of staff and monitoring/evaluating standards of practice.

About You:
To apply for this role you must have:
- A commitment to biculturalism
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- New Zealand nursing registration, RGON, RN BHSc (Nursing)
- Postgraduate certificate/ diploma in speciality nursing practice
- Minimum of five years’ experience post registration in relevant nursing specialty
- Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
- Demonstrate alignment with Te Toka Tumai values
- Demonstrated effectiveness in delegation and supervision of nurse
- Demonstrated ability to work in the interdisciplinary team
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous Charge Nurse experience
- Post Graduate qualification
- Masters degree or Post-Grad Dip.
