Cardiologist – Imaging (Full-Time)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Imaging Cardiologist to join our growing Cardiology Service at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. This is a full-time Senior Medical Officer opportunity to contribute to a comprehensive cardiac service while helping shape the future of cardiology care across our district.

About the Role

This full-time position offers the opportunity to:

  • Provide specialist cardiology care for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Lead and deliver high-quality cardiac imaging services, including transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and CT Coronary Angiography.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and service development initiatives.
  • Support clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, and research activities.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision of trainee medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the cardiology on-call roster and ward referral service across North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals.

Our Cardiology Service provides a broad range of diagnostic and interventional services and is committed to delivering patient-centred, equitable care to our diverse population. You will join a highly collaborative team of cardiologists, advanced trainees, specialty nurses, sonographers, radiographers, and allied health professionals.

About You

We are looking for a clinician who:

  • Holds FRACP in Cardiology (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Has advanced expertise and experience in non-invasive cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography and CT Coronary Angiography.
  • Is eligible for vocational or provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Demonstrates excellent clinical, teaching, and communication skills.
  • Has an interest in service development, quality improvement, research, and innovation.
  • Values cultural safety and embraces the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
