About the Role

Take the next step in clinical leadership while remaining connected to the mahi that matters.  As Clinical Lead within our Adolescent Mental Health Team, you will provide visible clinical leadership, coordinate acute responses, and support the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, recovery focused care.  Working closely with the Team Leader, you will help strengthen clinical practice, develop staff capability, and shape services that respond to the needs of rangatahi and their whānau.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Adolescent Mental Health Team works alongside rangatahi, whānau, and community partners across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.  Strong relationships with ED, Paediatrics, Oranga Tamariki, Police, schools, and community organisations support coordinated care when young people need it most.  Based in Whakatāne, the team values shared expertise, culturally responsive practice, and supporting one another through complex mahi.

About You

You are an experienced mental health clinician ready to extend your influence through clinical leadership. Calm and confident in complex situations, you enjoy mentoring others, strengthening clinical practice, and building trusted relationships while keeping rangatahi and whānau at the centre of care.

What you will bring:

  • Current registration and Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Health Professional, with Mental Health included within your scope of practice
  • A minimum of three years' post-registration experience in community mental health and addictions
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in adolescent mental health
  • Confidence working within acute and complex mental health presentations
  • Clinical leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and guide colleagues
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across health, education, and community services
  • Experience contributing to service development and continuous improvement
  • Commitment to recovery focused, culturally responsive care and giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
