About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Booking Clerk to join our Oncology department at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. As a successful Booking Clerk, you will play a key role in the booking process for clinics for the Medical Oncology team. This is an 80-hour per fortnight, permanent position where you will be working from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 4.30pm.

 

Day to day you will be involved in booking patient appointments for Senior Medical Officers and Registrars.  You will also ensure that patients are provided with the correct information they need to attend their appointment on the correct day and time.

 

Key responsibilities of the role:

The Booking Clerk role is essential in assisting with the smooth running of the Oncology outpatient services.  The role includes:

  • Booking patient appointments in patient management system (FSAs for SMOs and Registrars)
  • Processing referrals
  • Managing a waitlist, ensuring patients are prioritised in accordance with national guidelines and health targets
  • Uploading documents and referrals into CWS
  • Liaising with clinicians and RMO’s
  • Carrying out administrative tasks and cover reception when and as required

About you

As a booking clerk In Cancer Service, we are looking for people who are:

  • Organised, efficient and able to prioritise their workload effectively
  • Exceptional at customer service via the telephone
  • Detail oriented
  • Computer literate
  • Be a team member while able to work independently

 

Experience in a health environment or knowledge of clinical terminology would be an advantage, but not essential.
