Biochemistry Lab Scientist, Middlemore Hospital, Permanent Full-time

- We are seeking a New Zealand Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist who has had experience in biochemistry and would like to join a dynamic and progressive Biochemistry laboratory team.
- Middlemore Hospital is a 950 bed Hospital and is one of New Zealand’s busiest and most diverse teaching hospitals with a large Emergency Department, Dialysis Unit, National Burns Unit, Regional Plastic Surgery, Neonatal Unit, ICU and paediatric, general surgical, orthopaedic and medical wards.
- A wide range of diagnostic biochemistry testing is provided using automated systems for chemistry and immunoassay (Roche diagnostics), Blood gases, a Protein area including immunology tests and a Toxicology section including HBa1c’s.

About the Role
As our new Biochemistry Scientist your duties will include being rostered in the Biochemistry department in all areas. You will be required to follow our standard operating procedures and maintain excellent standards in compliance with ISO 15189-2022.
This is a permanent full-time position with inclusion of rostered weekend and shift work. You will work with the Charge Scientist, Consultant Biochemists, Section Heads and the Biochemistry team to deliver a quality laboratory service.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Biochemistry department is situated at the Middlemore Hospital campus and provides a 24 hour service for Middlemore and Kidz First Hospitals and the Manukau Health Park. As we are a teaching hospital, students rotate through the department for their practical training.

About you
- The successful applicant will have had at least 2 years’ experience in a large Biochemistry dept. Preferably have experience with Roche analysers, Infinity & Delphic systems.
- You also are required to be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and hold a current APC with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
