Waitakere Hospital was established in 2005. Located on Lincoln Road in Henderson, the hospital is seated at the foot of the magnificent Waitakere Ranges and close to the black volcanic sand beaches of the west coast. This general hospital sees around 24,000 patients a year, serving mainly the Waitakere and Kaipara populations.
The hospital features 76 medical beds, six coronary care beds, a surgical unit, maternity unit a special care baby unit, and a paediatrics service, as well as elderly rehabilitation wards. Waitakere hospital also boasts an allied health team of social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech language therapists. In April 2010 a major refurbishment of the Emergency Care Centre has allowed for the introduction of 24/7 Emergency Services for children and adults.
