We have multiple fixed term opportunities within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, based in Auckland and Northland and commencing from Q1 2026, and through the 2026 RMO training year. We're dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa- New Zealand and are seeking expressions of interest (EOI’s) from doctors who are ready to being their journey toward a career in General Practice (GP) through the NZREX Primary Care Pathway.

This pathway has been established to enable an efficient progression to full registration while supporting the workforce needs of New Zealand’s primary, urgent, and rural health services. Participants will work and train across both hospital and community settings with a minimum of 6 months in hospital-based placements and up to 18 months in primary care-during the 2-year fixed term.  

As a preferred candidate for this EOI, you will:

·         Currently reside in New Zealand

·         Passed either NZREX/PLAB/AMC-MCQ examination since November 2021 and are eligible for registration with MCNZ

·         Minimum 1-year post-graduation experience working as a doctor, in a country other than New Zealand or Australia  

·         Open to working in either Auckland or Northland

·         Ideally be currently working in a position within a NZ primary care setting

·         Have a genuine interest in becoming a GP in New Zealand

Submission Requirements

Only complete applications will be considered - therefore all required documentation MUST be provided as part of this EOI process submission.

A complete application must include

·         Certified copy of your NZREX / PLAB / AUMED pass letter 

·         An up-to-date CV outlining your overseas experience as a doctor, any paid or voluntary work in NZ, and other relevant information. Please account for any periods without employment.

·         Evidence of primary medical degree 

·         Certified copies of passport and driver’s license
