We are looking for a dedicated nursing professional with a passion for quality improvement to come and work as part of our quality and risk team. This position involves working across the Surgery, Anaesthesia, and Perioperative Services (SAPS) division as well as with other divisions and multidisciplinary clinical teams. Given this strong communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential. A knowledge of our organisations processes and systems is also important.

As the Clinical Specialty Nurse (CSN) Quality, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of care provided primarily within SAPS, but with the ability to influence quality practices organisationally. Your expertise will help educate, support, and implement quality improvement initiatives across the SAPS division in collaboration with the Clinical Quality Risk Manager (CQRM), feedback central and our patient safety team (among others). There will be opportunities for professional growth and development within a progressive healthcare organization.

Some of the Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and research-based knowledge to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate and respond to patient feedback, ensuring patient-centred care.
  • Conduct quality investigations, including incident management, and deliver educational sessions.
  • Lead or assist in clinical audits and investigations, adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines.
  • Make recommendations for improvement in clinical practice based on trends and outcomes from investigation
  • Partner in policy development and strategic planning activities.
  • Act as the local document controller for the Division, ensuring compliance with standards and competencies.

Essential requirements:

  • Current New Zealand Nursing Council Registration
  • Current Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience post registration (preferably Surgical)
  • Practicing at Proficient level on the Counties Manukau PDRP
  • Post graduate Certificate
