As a Medical Education Fellow, you will play a pivotal role in supporting House Officers as they transition into the medical workforce, helping to shape their clinical, professional, and personal development. What You'll Be Involved In

As part of the Clinical Education and Training Unit (CETU), you'll have opportunities to:

  • Deliver and enhance PGY1 and PGY2 education programmes
  • Mentor, support, and advocate for prevocational House Officers
  • Lead quality improvement and service development initiatives
  • Participate in research projects and present findings at relevant forums
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders and senior stakeholders across the organisation
  • Act as a key connection between House Officers and educational leadership teams
  • Network and collaborate with Medical Education Fellows across New Zealand

 

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking an enthusiastic and motivated doctor who is passionate about education, leadership, and supporting others to succeed.

You will ideally have:

  • A current Annual Practising Certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Full MCNZ registration (endorsement removed) or be working at Registrar level
  • Experience or a strong interest in teaching, coaching, mentoring, or medical education
  • Leadership, project management, coordination, or quality improvement experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to influence positive change and inspire others
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
  • An interest in research, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in healthcare education
  • A passion for developing future doctors and improving patient care
