Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Counties Manukau is seeking a part-time permanent Senior Medical Officer, Adult Cardiologist, with subspecialist training in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiac Device Management.

This is an opportunity to work in a high-demand, equity-focused Cardiology service, delivering specialist care to one of New Zealand’s most culturally diverse communities.You will join a collaborative and well-supported team of 19 Cardiologists, including 2 Cardiac Electrophysiologists.

 

About the Role

Core responsibilities include undertaking arrhythmia consultations and cardiac device implantation/management at Middlemore Hospital and performing catheter EP and ablation procedures as part of a regional EP service at Te Toka Tumai, Auckland City Hospital.  On-call commitments include local Cardiology at Middlemore and regional EP. Other commitments include contributing to an inpatient CCU/Ward service, a Ward Referral service and Cardiology clinics. Opportunities for teaching and research exist.

 

About You

• Qualified Adult Cardiologist with subspecialty training in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Device Implantation.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent qualification.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Medical Officer with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Current Annual Practising Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Experienced in arrhythmia assessment, cardiac device implantation and follow-up, and catheter EP/ablation procedures.
• Able to work collaboratively across local and regional cardiology services.
• Committed to patient-centred, culturally safe and whānau-centred care.
• Experienced, or strongly interested, in working with Māori, Pacific and other South Auckland communities.
• Interested in service improvement, teaching, innovation, research and developing models of care that improve access, engagement and continuity for patients and whānau.
