The opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Clinician Occupational Therapist to join our large and dynamic team of Occupational Therapists. This is a stimulating part-time role within the acute service, primarily based in the medical wards at Middlemore Hospital, with the opportunity to also work across our specialist medical, surgical, and orthopaedic services.
The successful candidate will have proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist within medical services, along with a demonstrated ability to proactively manage a fast-paced and dynamic caseload.
In this role, you will address the occupational needs of clients during their acute hospital admission, supporting their transition from hospital to home or into rehabilitation or community services. You will model best practices in Occupational Therapy and actively promote the profession within the inter-professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based knowledge in practice
- Provide consultation and advice to staff managing patients in specialist areas
- Offer clinical supervision and mentoring to Occupational Therapists and other staff
- Demonstrate expertise in coaching and clinical teaching of allied health professionals
- Lead the development and review of clinical guidelines, service design, and processes
- Facilitate and model inter-professional and transdisciplinary practice, collaborating across teams
- Contribute to and promote emerging developments in practice, staying current with advancements in the field
Essential:
- Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand with current APC
- A minimum of 5 years experience, with at least 3 years experience in medicine
- Experience in teaching, coaching and mentoring
- Supervisory experience with students and staff
- Full, clean New Zealand drivers licence
