The Opportunity

Are you an experienced dietitian with a passion for leadership, clinical excellence, and innovation? We are seeking a dietitian who would either like to start of a leadership journey or help support our team as Professional Leader for Dietetics. The role provides strategic direction, professional governance, and mentorship to our dedicated dietetics team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Allied Health Scientific and Technical, the Professional Leader for Dietetics will provide professional and clinical leadership to dietitians across Counties Manukau. This role focuses on workforce capability, ensuring high-quality practice standards and competency processes are in place. You will also help manage clinical risks, provide leadership for delivery of relevant health targets and services, and drive equitable health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

As a key leader, you will guide quality improvement initiatives, mentor staff, and support managers in professional development for dietitians. You will also contribute to the Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) programme, including reviewing TrendCare data and improving data collection processes.

You will work alongside Allied Health Professional Leaders, Clinical Directors of Allied Health Scientific and Technical, and Service and Operations Managers to advise on dietetic services. Your leadership will help shape local, regional, and national strategies.

This role is 16 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours in a clinical or other role within the organisation.

What You’ll Bring

  • NZ registered dietitian with a current APC
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and change management experience
  • A commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills
