Core Speech Language Therapist, Acute Allied Health

The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist to join the Acute SLT team, at Middlemore Hospital. In this position you will have the opportunity to provide a comprehensive speech language therapy service including swallow assessments, communication evaluation and the development and implementation of an inpatient goal related plan with the patient and their families. Ideally you will be able to work autonomously, as well as part of an inter-disciplinary team and ongoing support will be provided as required. Ongoing education and development of all employees including regular supervision, in-services and training in instrumental swallowing assessment will be provided.
As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand approved qualification to practice speech and language therapy
- Membership with NZSTA with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- New graduates are welcome to apply
- 2 years minimum post qualification clinical experience working with an adult neurological caseload and dysphagia is desirable
- VFSS and FEES competency is desirable
- An understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting
- Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
- Drive, energy, initiative with excellent communication, interpersonal and team play skills
