The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialty Nurse (CSN) to join our Perioperative Department at Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau. This role requires a dedicated and experienced nurse with specialized knowledge in perioperative care to provide advanced clinical support, leadership, and guidance.

As a Clinical Specialty Nurse, you will play a key role in enhancing patient outcomes, supporting best-practice nursing care, and contributing to the development of guidelines, policies, and quality initiatives within the perioperative environment.

This is a busy and challenging role and will involve the leadership and the coordination of TADU/PSU nursing resources and patient flow (to and from TADU/PSU), supported by a dedicated team of TADU/PSU Nurses. Ensuring timely patient care, monitoring patient length of stay and clinical support for the TADU/PSU team will be important aspects of this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a clinical leader, supporting safe staffing, patient flow, and best-practice care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality perioperative services.
  • Provide direct nursing care, assessments, and education to patients and their families.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, protocols, and audits.
  • Support professional development initiatives for nursing staff.
  • Advocate for culturally appropriate care and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

 

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 3+ years surgical nursing experience in NZ
  • Proficient PDRP or higher
  • Relevant Postgraduate qualification completed or near completion
