The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Gastroenterology & Hepatology Service. This is a part time role and is integral to delivering specialist nursing care, patient education, and clinical leadership within a nurse-led clinic, ensuring high-quality treatment and care coordination. This role would provide clinical expertise and leadership within the Gastroenterology & Hepatology service.

Our progressive Endoscopy Unit based across both Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Health Park, provides both diagnostic and exciting interventional Endoscopy services. If you are passionate about patient-centred care, clinical excellence, and innovative healthcare delivery, we invite you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist assessment, treatment, and ongoing care within a nurse-led clinic
  • Collaborate with Gastroenterology & Hepatology Consultants to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Organize and coordinate diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Deliver integrated patient care across hospital and primary care settings.
  • Promote cost-effective, evidence-based, multidisciplinary healthcare.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols, policies, and guidelines.
  • Act as a clinical expert and role model within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Advocate for patients and colleagues in a culturally safe manner.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and education to nursing and healthcare staff.
  • Participate in strategic planning for service development and education.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and research activities.

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience in Gastroenterology nursing in NZ
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent) completed or near completion.
  • Proficient or Expert level PDRP
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
