The Role:

Kidz First Neonatal Unit (NNU) provides intensive care (Level III) and Special Care (Level II) services and offers a seamless continuum of care to pre-term infants and their whaanau.

The unit works in a Partnership Model with parents and whaanau at the heart of care delivery by utilising the concepts of both Te Whare Tapa Wha and Fonofale models of practice. We endorse and support teaching in the unit that is evidence-based and are committed to the provision of professional development. 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with strong clinical leadership skills to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

As an ACNM, you’ll play a pivotal role in clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to neonates and their whaanau. You will support and guide nursing and support staff, manage resources, and ensure clinical best practice is upheld in a busy and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support nursing staff across levels 2 and 3 neonatal care
  • Deliver expert clinical guidance and family/whaanau-centred care
  • Coordinate daily staffing, resource allocation, and unit admissions/discharges
  • Participate in staff education, mentorship, and performance review
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and policy development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and regional networks to ensure continuity of care
  • Support workforce planning and service development in line with HNZ Counites Manukau goals

About You:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 5+ years recent neonatal nursing experience in NZ
  • Demonstrated expertise in setting standards and managing excellence in practice
  • Relevant Postgraduate qualification completed or enrolled and working towards one
  • Functioning at a proficient or expert level of practice on the PDRP
