About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Midwife Manager to join our team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a dedicated midwife who is committed to providing high-quality maternity care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for women and their whaanau.

As a Clinical Midwife Manager, you will provide expert clinical leadership and direction, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of community midwifery services. You will work closely across multidisciplinary teams, supporting the service in delivering exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the community midwifery service at a primary birth unit to ensure safe and high-quality community-based maternity care.
  • Deputise for the Midwife Manager of the birth unit as needed
  • Oversee the operational management of the community midwifery team, staffing allocation, and resource planning in collaboration with Midwifery Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, audit, and risk management.
  • Work in partnership with all health professionals, maternal and child health community based organisations and allied health service providers to enable equitable outcomes
  • Actively contribute to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in maternity care, ensuring equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whaanau.
  • Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

About You:

  • NZ Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • 5+ years recent clinical experience in a secondary/tertiary birthing facility.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care.
  • Proven leadership experience - ability to lead and coordinate a team.
  • Innovative and creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
