The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary Clinical Director to lead, inspire, and shape the Allied Health, Scientific and Technical workforce within the Mental Health Services at Counties Manukau.

Reporting to the Chief of Allied Health, Scientific and Technical Professions, this role provides professional governance, leadership and strategic direction for the Allied Health, Scientific and Technical workforce.

As a member of the clinical leadership of the district mental health service, you will work in partnership with other clinical and operational leaders to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, equitable and sustainable health services, while advancing models of care and workforce development.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Allied Health professional with a strong track record of senior clinical leadership. Mental Health experience is preferred.

About the Role

As Clinical Director, you will:

  • Provide professional governance and strategic leadership for Allied Health, Scientific and Technical services
  • Partner with General Managers, Clinical Directors and operational leaders to optimise service delivery
  • Lead workforce planning, capability development and service innovation initiatives
  • Drive quality improvement, risk management and clinical governance processes
  • Champion interdisciplinary practice and equity-focused models of care
  • Contribute to regional and national Allied Health strategic priorities
  • Work with the Chief AHST to deliver on specific projects and manage assigned portfolios

Essential:

  • NZ registered Allied Health professional with a current annual practising certificate (APC)
  • 7–10 year’s clinical experience with preference of this in the mental health services
  • Postgraduate qualification
  • Working towards a Master’s in leadership, health management, education, supervision, or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership in change management, quality improvement and clinical governance
  • Proven ability to influence, mentor and lead across interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to improving health equity for Maaori, Pacific and other priority populations
